Our stay and safari at Devlata desert farm was so wonderful. Fooding, lodging and safari all excellent. The owner is a beautiful hospitable lady. I wish to visit Devlata farm once again. The room is so comfortable. Food was very good and yummy. The owner takes good care of the host and am thankful to all the staffs.
Meenaji is a great host and the place is right next to the little Rann, near Kidi which is 20 kms from Halvad. She arranged auto from Halvad railway station (400 rupees, if I remember). The place is wonderful if you are interested in the Kutch nature, and the time I was there was around 10th January which is one of the better times for birds. I estimated 1000s of flamingoes, but the numbers fluctuate every year and this year was low apparently.Very helpful host (Meenaji) who helped me to also plan an arrange my further itinerary from there to Dholavira and Dhordho. The homestay guys that I stayed with in Dholavira were (Khadir homestay) nowhere as helpful. At least for the moment, this is a small cosy place overlooking the little Rann, run by a nice family. I hope they don't expand too much and turn into Khadir.
My sister and I had a lovely stay here and were well looked after by Meena and her team. The room was clean and basic with firm beds. The food was home cooked, delicious and plentiful and we enjoyed chatting to them all. Communication from the start was very good and we arrived by taxi and left by train with their help. This location is quiet and surrounded by the most beautiful nature of sunsets, wildlife and birds. So much to see from the locals working the salt flats, wildlife ass, nilgi, birds of prey, flamingos and more. We did two safaris with Ajay which were fun and informative and we were shown so much. This was a great experience which we would highly recommend.

“Founder’s Story”

Our Founder — Late Shri Devjibhai Dhamecha

Devlata Desert Farm was built on the dreams of Late Shri Devjibhai Dhamecha — a simple, adventurous soul and true lover of nature. A passionate wildlife photographer, he spent his life exploring the Little Rann of Kutch, guiding countless visitors to its hidden beauty.

After leaving his job with Indian Railways to follow his dream, he started offering homestays and safaris from his own home in 1990. In 2007, he expanded his vision to Jogad, right in front of the Little Rann — creating a peaceful place where guests can stargaze, unwind, and connect with the desert’s unique wildlife.

Today, we carry forward his legacy with the same warmth and respect for the land.

"About Us"

Meet Our Family

Our farm stay is now lovingly run by Lalitaben Dhamecha — wife of Late Shri Devjibhai Dhamecha — along with their daughter, Meenaben. For over three decades, we’ve welcomed guests like family, sharing simple stays, home-cooked food, and safaris into the wild heart of the Little Rann of Kutch.

Meenaben, a dedicated social worker, continues to support local salt worker families and village communities around the Rann. When you stay with us, you don’t just visit — you become part of our story and our desert home.
